Dr. William Kingsbury an immigration pioneer who lived in Boerne Texas, his former home is not too far from The Polo Club, was the most prolific immigration agent in Texas and brought in big numbers of English immigrants to Texas prior to the 1876 polo match.

Here is a book on Kingsbury that discusses the volume of immigrants he sent to Texas.

What are the odds?

James Gordon Bennett Jr. was inspired to bring polo to America after he saw it being played while in England.. There were a lot of English in Texas thanks to Boerne's Kingsbury so you have to ask the question...Was it the English immigrants in Texas or James Gordon Bennett Jr. who saw polo first.......A book on Texas immigration that talks about Kingsbury being "The Man" for Texas Immigration.  Page 154 is interesting.
